Wang Hao unable to play in FIDE World Cup

Early on the morning of 27 September a large group of World Cup players arrived in Khanty-Mansiysk from Moscow, including a very large Chinese delegation. Unfortunately that didn’t include the country’s strongest player, Wang Hao (Elo 2718). The organisers received a letter which informed them that on account of heart problems Wang Hao had been forced to withdraw from the competition. That’s already the second withdrawal on health grounds. As we previously reported, Armenian grandmaster Vladimir Akopian was unable to travel to Khanty-Mansiysk after breaking his leg.
